A mature Golden Retriever will consume between 2 and 4 cups of food each day on average. However, the actual amount of food required varies from dog to dog and is determined by age, activity level, weight, health issues, and food quality.

In addition, neutered Golden Retrievers require fewer calories than their intact counterparts, and nursing females must consume more calories in order to maintain their weight and produce milk for the babies.

Water is another important thing, since your dog must have fresh water available throughout the day.

 

 

How Much Should My Golden Retriever Puppy Be Fed?

A Golden Retriever puppy must be fed three times every day until he is six months old, at which point he can be fed twice per day. The amount varies from puppy to puppy, but the average 3 month old Golden puppy will consume two cups of food every day. You should divide the food into three portions and serve them in the morning, noon, and night.

Try to follow the breeder’s existing feeding regimen as closely as possible for the first three to four weeks after you bring your new golden retriever puppy home.

This way transitional stress and stomach discomfort will be minimized 

When a puppy reaches the age of six months, they will eat  three cups of food. You should begin feeding him two meals every day, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Some Golden Retrievers are prone to becoming overweight, so keep an eye on their calorie intake and weight. If you’re going to give your dog treats, do it in moderation

If at all possible, avoid giving table scraps. Eliminate cooked bones and high-fat foods. Research which human foods are suitable for dogs and which are not. If you have any concerns regarding your dog’s weight or diet, consult your veterinarian.

Dry kibble helps to keep your Golden Retriever’s teeth clean of tartar by scraping the surface of the teeth. Canned food provides additional moisture in your dog’s diet and can be mixed with dry food to entice your dog with its aroma, if your Golden Retriever needs it. When combining foods, compute the caloric content of the combined foods from information on the labels, to ensure you hold to your dog’s recommended daily calories.
